Refresh your mind, body and soul

Our last show was located at the Shamwari Game Reserve, midway between Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth and it was the perfect spot to talk about ways to freshen up your life.

Zuraida chatted to Dr John Tibane, who followed his dream to become after deciding to end his career as a medical doctor. He acknowledged that people are bound to get into ruts both at work and with relationships. He advocates the practise of good mental health by taking responsibility for your own development. “First you need to recognise that you’re in a rut, frustrated, don’t like where you are and then have a vision of where you want to be – a vision of the kind of life that you want.”

Well known and respected Heart FM DJ, Phat Joe is so positive, it is contagious! He always looks at things from the glass-half-full perspective. His words of wisdom: “Not everything is within your control and sometimes you have to put yourself in a space where you can correctly interpret the situation and deal with it appropriately.”

Boost Juice is a new drinking concept in South Africa. Owner Lyle Peters said it is based on a simple concept of what you put in is you get out. Boost Juices have created two special freshen up juices for Radox’s Life's a Journey, one of which is Lyle’s personal favourite - the No Flu Brew – a natural brew of fresh carrots, apple, orange, three different boosters, some ginger and mint which is blended on  slow cycle to a delicious, thick meal on the run.

Victor Vermeulen was on his way to great heights thanks to his talent on the cricket field. But a swimming pool accident in which he broke his neck changed all of that. “It was like someone had switched off a light and in that instant I thought I was going to die but I had to take responsibility for what I had done and for what was to come,” he said. With the support of his mother he rebuilt his life, and started a different journey. “Being positive is not a choice you make once. It’s something I have to do every single day. I always say to people that winners make it happen, losers let it happen. Winners look for solutions and losers look for excuses.”
