On last night’s Life’s a Journey show we got some helpful insights from people who have excelled in their chosen careers. Motivational speaker Justin Cohen advised that we should set goals, give ourselves a timeframe to achieve them and ward off negativity by remembering that for every loss there’s a gain. He also suggested looking for the lesson in every so-called setback.
Zack Buchan of The Unlimited Company, which won the Deloitte Best Company to Work For award in 2006 and 2008, detailed some of the practices that make his company great. From daily exercise to game playing and team building, as well as email-free Wednesdays, working at Unlimited is certainly a dream. Happy employees are clearly the key to the company’s success.
Dr Felicia Mabuza-Suttle is living her dream life and shared what she calls her “Five Steps to Significance”. First is to get a good education, second is to get a great salary, third is to save a good portion of that salary, fourth is to enjoy the success you have achieved and fifth is to move from success to significance, which means changing other people’s lives for the better.
Finally we got some healthy eating options from Lana Doyle, Executive chef at the Twelve Apostles Hotel in Camps Bay. Her lunch box ideas included a rye bread sandwich with hummus and a filling of cherry tomatoes, red onion, capers and shredded tuna, as well as a quinoa salad with steamed veggies and shredded roast chicken, and a smoothie of frozen raspberries, banana, yoghurt, orange juice and oatmeal powder.
Catch next week’s show to get more great tips for living a good life.
