Review: Children and wellbeing

Our last show which was located at the revamped Oyster Box hotel in Durban centred on wellbeing and children.

Dr David Molapo, a renowned motivational speaker, spoke about the National Centre for Fathering and the role it plays to promote the notion of champion fatherhood. He says: “We encourage dads to love their children, to honour and respect the mother of the children, and then we also talk about mentoring and modeling.”

The show also welcomed visionary parenting expert Nicky Bush who wrote the book “Future-Proof Your Child”. She explained that it is important to understand the context of parenting, and the fast moving environment children are now growing up in. Her words of advice for parents were “Play with your children. Play is the language of childhood.”

Parents know how difficult it is to get kids to eat correctly, and celebrity chef Jenny Morris had a few tricks about getting your kids to eat vegetable. Her advice was to hide them and as an example she suggested grating cauliflower and carrots into chicken mince when making burger patties. Now that is a stroke of brilliance!

With all these hints and tips, there are sure to be happy parents and children all over South Africa. Be sure to watch the next Radox Life’s a Journey next Wednesday, 5 May on SABC 3 at 8pm where energy-on-the-go will be the topic of discussion.
