Stress was in the spotlight on the opening show of Life’s A Journey. Filmed on location at the Hamilton-Russell wine estate, in the Western Cape vineyard-owner Olive Hamilton-Russell recommended leisurely strolls amongst veggie and herb gardens to unwind and suggested using the herb kooigoed for calming frazzled nerves.
Mary-Ann Shearer, author of The Natural Way, reminded us that the most beneficial foods for the body come directly from the earth. She added that herbs are also fantastic because they add flavour to foods and are rich in nutrients.
Former Miss South Africa, Michelle Bruce, pointed out that our lives are now full of excess and proposed that if people practised self-control, things would be easier.
Dr. Toni Luck, spiritual and transformational therapist and author, concluded by saying that stress is a choice and, more often than not, is self-induced. She went on to say that people should concentrate more on attaining a peaceful life rather than oodles of stuff.
